DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE Opens Competence Center for Heat-Sealable Papers

The packaging industry is facing the urgent challenge of developing sustainable alternatives to plastic packaging.

Heat-sealable paper is a highly promising solution. However, in order to utilise the full potential of this material, the paper and machine settings must be perfectly aligned. With the establishment of a Competence Center for Heat-Sealable Papers, DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE is contributing to the development of tailored, high-performance paper solutions.

The specialist paper manufacturer from Lachendorf aims to explore the interaction between paper and the required machine parameters in more detail. To this end, the Competence Center for Heat-Sealable Paper was opened at the production site in Lachendorf in early 2025.

The pouch machine from Leipzig-based manufacturer EXAKTApack, used here, allows the variation of various parameters to precisely adjust the functional properties of the paper to the specific requirements of downstream processing stages.

“Our approach goes beyond pure material development. We view heat-sealable paper as an integral part of an optimized packaging process,” explains Dr. Imke Cravillon, Head of Product Development at DREWSEN SPEZIALPAPIERE.

“Through close collaboration with our customers and partners, we can develop solutions that are convincing not only from an ecological but also a technical perspective. Interested companies and partners are warmly invited to visit the Competence Center and work with us on advancing innovative paper solutions.”

Through intensive collaboration with machine suppliers and packaging producers, the best solutions for the challenges of the packaging industry will be developed – with a clear focus on quality, efficiency, and sustainability.
